40K HOBBY PROGRESS: Wolf Scout Sniper Pack - Part I

New Project!
It is time to get working on my Space Wolf Chapter, first up is my Thunderwolf army. If you have read my Wolf Scout Tactia then you might know that I am wanting to include a Sniper Pack as a backfield unit. As I continue to collect the various models for my new army I decided to go ahead and get a start on painting this Holiday. Not only is Christmas my favorite time of year, thus I'm motivated, but my employer (being a university) gives me a 2-3 week vacation break for Christmas - lots of free time to do some hobby progress.

Wolf Sniper Pack Assemble
As you can see in the pictures I have a five man pack assembled. Two models are pose converted and the other three in poses right out from the box. I am sure I am not the only person whom is getting tired of seeing the same old sniper models in the same old poses? Well I decided to do something about it. All it took was some shaving, cutting, a dab of kitbashing, a dash of liquid green stuff and presto!

All my Wolf Scouts have the now mandatory camo cloaks for snipers, plus sniper rifles, Norse heads and various 'wolf bling'. I think they look decent enough, I've always liked the sniper models but the real payoff will come after they are painted.

These guys still need a little touch-up work. Next up, priming and painting, woo!

  1. Great idea with the conversions on the poses. I havent seen sniper scouts utilized too much out here for me (mostly IG and Tau players), but you may have inspired me to work on my wolf scout snipers as well. What kind of paint scheme are you going with?

    1. I'm using The Fang, a Citadel paint, aka Fenris Grey before the name change. IMHO much better looking than the powered blue normal look. Not so sure about the unarmored arms and cloak color let, probably some kind of grey and/or shadow grey. Going to be awhile before I can get to painting, bad weather and humidity in the forecast for a bit so can't prime the models.

  2. This is a great conversion. I just love their faces...It's almost like they are upset they have to be quiet, so I imagine them "whisper yelling" to each other.

    1. Space Wolves should never look happy until they have the bloody, torn remains of their enemies at their feet. Then it's time for an ale.

  3. For my TDAs and PAs i use The Fang as well, less cartoony than the lighter blues. I like thr darker colors as well for my wolves :)
