40K Armies: Praise Khorne and Pass The Chainaxe - Khorne Codex Inbound!

THE RUMORS ARE COMING TRUE!

It appears that we long awaiting Chaos players, specifically Khorne players, are getting our own Codex and it came right out of left field, total surprise. We heard rumors about new Khorne datasheets (true) and new Khorne units coming in late March but I didn't recall ever hearing about a new Codex, especially one God specific like this.

Here is the list straight from someone called Gary and this list has been placed on both Faiet 212 and BOLS.

Codex: Khorne Daemonkin £30

120pg hardback Codex. Rules for fielding a combined force of Khornate Chaos Space Marines with Daemons of Khorne.

Warhammer 40,000 Datacards: Khorne Daemonkin

45 reference cards; 36 tactical objective cards; and 9 large-format ‘Blood for the Blood God’ cards.

Khorne Daemonkin Warband £140

10 Chaos Space Marines; 5 Possessed Chaos Space Marines; 5 Chaos Terminators; a Chaos Helbrute; 3 Bloodcrushers of Khorne; 12 Khorne Berserkers; and a Resin Herald of Khorne.

This can only mean that the other Gods are getting their own Codexes, lets hope that Chaos is all squared away by Christmas with all four books, that would be awesome. But where does this leave the 2012 Chaos Space Marine Codex? This Khorne Codex is coming with both CSM and Daemons in it. Now we don't have to use an Allied detachment to get our Daemon allies - that's a huge help for tournament list building. This is an odd development but one that is most appreciated. Does that mean the CSM Codex is going away after all the God books are out? Or what about the Daemon Codex for that matter? Food for thought.

I'm pre-ordering my Codex and Datacards TODAY. If the codex is coming out next week that means I might have a new tournament army list ready then as well. Khorney good times ARE here!!!

Blood for the Blood God! Skulls for the Skull Throne!

  1. I'm so excited for this.

I'm guessing that it's going to play out like a codex supplement. Meaning, it will have entries for you may take this, or that or the other thing (plus artifacts and such), but the unit entries will remain where they are in their respective codex as they do now for supplements. I see the exception being anything new though, stuff specific to THIS codex.

    1. You could be right about it being a supplement, and you probably are. BUT I find it strange that both Faiet 212 and BOLS called the Khorne Daemonkin book a Codex specifically. It could be that they just don't know or it was an oversight in wording? Or more likely is that are reporting exactly how the source wrote the information to them.

    2. If we have any new units in there, like all new rules on the Thirster and maybe some of those fantasy units crossover and get entries (or something yet unseen), then I could see them calling it a codex. I just can't seem them consolidating Codex CSM & Daemons into these god codices. One, that leaves no room for undivided. Two, it would be a logistical mess.
